NOT TO LATE TO GET YOUR FLU SHOT!
Most of us think of flu season, being between December and February. But did you know that flu activity can last as late as May?
According to the CDC Flu view report, flu activity continues to increase in North Carolina.
(See chart below) There are localized pockets of high activity in parts of the state, and national levels of influenza-like-illness continues to rise. Unlike many other viral respiratory infections, such as the common cold, the flu can cause severe illness and life-threatening complications in many people.
Flu symptoms include:
- A 100F or higher fever or feeling feverish (not everyone with the flu has a fever)
- A cough and/or sore throat
- A runny or stuffy nose
- Headaches and/or body aches
- Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea (most common in children)
If you have not received your flu shot this season, Heritage Urgent & Primary Care still has a limited number available. Call 919-761-5678 to schedule today.
